Abstract

Among many treatment modalities of keratoacanthoma, excisional surgery is preferred by most dermatologists. In some cases, surgical excision may result in functional or cosmetic problems, particularly in large or giant keratoacanthoma, or keratoacanthoma arising from cosmetically critical area. We herein report two cases of keratoacanthoma successfully treated with intralesional injections of 5-fluorouracil or methotrexate. We suggest that the intralesional injection is a simple and effective treatment for keratoacanthoma that is difficult to remove surgically, and it may offer greater efficacy with a rapid clinical response.
