Abstract

Baclofen has been reported to elicit various neurologic complications, such as encephalopathy, respiratory depression, muscular hypotonia and generalized hyporeflexia, especially with excessive doses. However, acute encephalopathy caused by low-dose baclofen has rarely been reported. We report a case of acute transient encephalopathy with mental deepening and unilateral myoclonic jerk caused by low- dose baclofen. Brain MRI showed no lesions except previous pontine infarction and laboratory findings were within normal limits. The clinical abnormalities improved shortly after baclofen was discontinued.
