Abstract

Proteomics is a study of the proteome that is the whole set of proteins expressed by cell, tissue, or organism. Main techniques of proteomics are proteome separation by two-dimensional electrophoresis, interpretation of separated proteome by staining, image acquisition and analysis, protein excision, and protein identification by mass spectrometry. Results obtained by proteome analysis are used in researches related to the strain fingerprinting, the protein composition, the gene regulation, and the protein-protein interaction. In this review, we introduce how proteomics can be used for Helicobacter pylori researches.
