Abstract

Pancreatic pseudocyst is a complication of acute pancreatitis. It usually develops in or around the pancreas, but rarely involves extra-abdominal organs. Mediastinal pancreatic pseudocyst is extremely rare among the complications of pancreatitis. Sometimes spontaneous regression may occur and surgical drainage is the most effective treatment method. However, a supportive therapy with octrotide has been reported to be effective in some cases. We experienced a case of mediastinal pancreatic pseudocyst presenting with pneumonia in a 25-year-old male patient. It was found on chest and abdominal computed tomography. He was successfully treated by the supportive octreotide therapy.
