Abstract

The importance of vascular access cannot be overstated when it comes to cardiovascular intervention. Without proper vascular access, it is not possible to perform the necessary diagnostic or therapeutic procedures for cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, it is essential to have a thorough understanding of vascular access and its importance in cardiovascular intervention. While vascular access is essential for cardiovascular interventions, it is not without risks. Prevention and management of complications are critical in ensuring the best possible patient outcomes. This review presents an overview of vascular access management and selection strategies for cardiovascular interventions. It discusses the advantages and disadvantages of femoral, radial, distal radial, and brachial artery access, as well as preprocedural considerations, the risks of vascular complications, and hemostasis for patients undergoing cardiovascular interventions.
