Radiologic investigation of growing skull fracture

Abstract

Linear or nonlinear calvarial fractures that enlarge with time are termed "growing" skull fractures. Such fractures are a rare complication of fracture occurring only in young children and have also been called leptomeningeal cysts. This rare fracture usually occurs in the parietal region of the skull, and underlying unrecognized dural laceration is the single most important factor in the process. We descrive the radiological investigation of two cases of growing skull fractures.
