Roentgenological analysis in pelvimetry in Korean women

Abstract

Since Varnier studies the roentgen pelvimetry for the first time in 1896, Albert was the first author todescribe the result of roentgen pelvimetry. In 1944, Colcher-Sussman had first used the rotating ruler duringroentgen pelvimetry which gives benefits to minimize distortion and magnification with simplicity to measure forobstetrician. We have been using the Cocher-Sussman pelvimetric method for long time in Yonsei university. Dependson the measuring data of Colcher-Sussman, we decided the outcome of labor either vaginal or cesarean sectiondelivery. Author studied the pelvimetric valvue of Colcher-Sussman method, and analyzed data, maternal pelvicshape and fetal presentation along with fetal head circumference correlating to outcome of labor. Amoung the total300 pelvimetric patients, there were 57 cases of spontaneous vaginal delivery group, 42 cases of low forcepdelivery grounp, 9 cases of midforcep delivery group and 192 cases of cesarean section group. Result was; 1. Withauthors experience, when comparing the result of the Colcher-Sussmandata it was helpful to decide the mode oflabor in case of difficult labor. 2. In case of pregnant woman with following measurement data, author decided thecontracted pelvis and advised cesarean section. a. Pelvic Inlet A-P diameter ; below 12.305cm Transverse diameter; below 12.501cm Total diameter : below 24.866cm b. Mid pelvis Transverse diameter ; below 9.72cm Total diameter ;below 20.882cm c. Pelvic Outlet A-P diameter ; below 7.071cm Total diameter ; below 16.758cm 3. In case ofpregnant woman with inevitable radiation exposure is necessary for diagnosis, collimate the necessary exposurearea with proper condition to eleminate the possibility of fetal radiation hazard is advisable.
