Investigation of fetal weight determination in x-ray pelvimetry

Abstract

The X-ray pelvimetry is widely used for investigation of fetal weight determination by measuring the size ofthe fetal head. The report concerns 173 cases with Colcher-Suussman method from Jan. 1. '77 to Dec. 31 '80 at SoonChun Hyang college hospital. We measured fetal head diameter in both A-P and lateral projections. The briefresults are as follows; 1) Among the total 173 cases, vaginal delivery is 88 cases and Cesarean section is 85cases. 2) The rate of Cesarean section is increased over 35 years of age and 4,000 gm of birth weight. 3) The rateof Cesarean section is increased in abnormal presentation. 4) The relationship between the fetal head diameter andthe fetal weight is more significant in A-P plus lateral projection than A-P only. 5) The average size of thefetal heaad is 0.8cm larger in cesarean section than in vaginal delivery.
