Abstract
- Despite the prevalence of premature ejaculation(PE), researchers and physicians have yet to offer a compelling, empirically based theory regarding its nature or etiology. This study explored the sexual nature of Koreans with PE through a sexual history questionnaire administered to 227 patients. The mean age of the patient and spouse was 40.8 and 38.3 years, respectively. 31% of primary PE and 67% of secondary PE(9%) was associated with erectile dysfunction. The average frequency of sexual intercourse was 0.98 per week, which was lower than that of the age-matched controls. Only 53% of the men and 20% of their spouses were satisfied with their sexual lives, 87% of them wanted the prolongation of ejaculation time. The average frequency of masturbation was 2 times/month being higher in patients who were young, unmarried and dissatisfied with their sexual lives. These data appear to be helpful in establishing the nature of PE and formualting appropriate treatment plans.
