Ultrasonographic Diagnosis of Conjoined Twins ; A Case Report of Two Cases

Abstract

Conjoined twin is one of rare complications of monozygotic multiple pregnancy. Before the age of ultrasonography, this rare complication could hardly be recognized until the process of labor progressed. Recently, with the developement of ultrasonogrphy, we can diagnose conjoined twins in any stage of pregnancy with considerable accuracy. Early prenatal diagnosis and assessment of the degree of conjoining is essential for obstetrical counseling and management. Recently we have experienced two cases of conjoined twins diagnosed by ultrasonography during the second trimester, and report that with brief review of related literatures.
