Abstract
-
Granulocytic sarcoma is a localized tumor of primitive myeloid cells. This sarcoma can occur in various sites such as bone, skin, lymph nodes, orbit, nasopharynx, gastrointestinal tract, prostate, testis, breast and female genital tract. The diagnosis can be confirmed on paraffin sections with chloroacetate esterase reaction, lysozyme immunostaining. The prognosis is related to the process of the associated hematologic disease. The appearance of granulocytic sarcoma during a remission period seems to predict future systemic relapse and aggressive chemotherapy with central nervous system prophylaxis is strongly indicated. We report a case of left upper lid mass in a 16-year-old female patient with acute myelocytic leukemia, who was in complete remission state after bone marrow transplantation with literature review.
