Abstract

A semen sample with a low concentration, poorly motile and morphologically abnormal sperm cells may be labeled Oligo-Astheno-Teratozoospermia Syndrome(OAT-S). Although all 3 of the above pathologies of sperm usually occur concomitantly, the degree of severty of each can differ significantly in various patients. Male infertility is a great problem and an increasing number of clinicians are becoming involved in its diagnosis and treatment. But, until now, there has been little stand guidance for practical and laboratory staff who are responsible for the accurate analysis of semen, upon which the couple's management depends. For the purpose of better diagnosis and management of male infertility, the recent analytic methods of semen were introduced in brief and changing concepts in reading a spermiogram in OAT-S also discussed.
