Terbinafine is a drug for dermatophytosis, which is considered to be safe. However, susceptible patients are predisposed to drug-induced or exacerbated cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CLE). Herein, we describe two patients who had a new onset of CLE, mimicking an annular type of subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus (SCLE), while taking terbinafine for presumed onychomycosis. Two female patients presented with erythematous annular eruptions after 4 to 6 weeks of oral terbinafine. Anti-Ro/La and anti-histone antibodies were positive. Their conditions improved after withdrawal of terbinafine. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report to describe its association with anti-Ro/La-positive CLE in Korea, although there have been a few reports of terbinafine-induced CLE or SCLE in Western countries.
