Abstract

Various methods have been proposed to treat peri-implantitis; however, these methods have not been fully established as yet. The bone destruction pattern of the peri-implant bone can be observed as a combination of suprabony and intrabony defects in peri-implantitis. Generally, a resective surgery with implantoplasty is performed for suprabony defects, while regenerative surgery using the bone graft materials can be attempted for intrabony defects. Recently, an effective combined surgical therapy that can simultaneously perform respective surgery with implantoplasty and regenerative surgery using the bone graft materials based on the bone defect patterns around the implant has been introduced as a treatment method for peri-implantitis. This study aimed to perform combined surgical therapy in cases of peri-implantitis with suprabony and intrabony defects.
