Abstract

Acute abdomen is one of the complicated episodes during pregnancy, and it often confuses obstetricians with other critical clinical situations. In addition, anatomical rearrangement of the intestine due to the enlarged pregnant uterus makes it difficult for clinicians to diagnosis acute abdomen. We herein report the case of a pregnant woman who visited the emergency room with acute abdomen and was suspected of having ruptured appendicitis; surprisingly, a perforated intestinal leiomyoma was instead detected during laparotomy.
