Studies on the Variations in Number of Rosette-Forming Lymphocytes in Tuberculous Patients

Abstract

Because the tuberculosis is one of the hypersensitivity-related processes, some degree of immune depression could be suspected and there were a few numbers of reports. In order to confirm such reports and clárify the relationship between Tuberculosis and delayed cell-mediated immunity, the authors performed rosette test and leukocyte counts on 84 tuberculous cases. The followings were ensued; 1. The more advanced tuberculosis, the more increased the number of leukocytes (/mm3 ) and the more increased the percentile of lymphocytes, but thers is no significant decrease in number of absolute lymphocytes (/mm3 ). 2. There is some degree of decrease in number and perentile of the rosette-forming lymphocytes in tuberculous groups than that of the normal control group.
