Percutaneous needle aspiratio biopsy of malignant lung lesions

Abstract

Percutaneous needle aspiration biopsy (PNAB) of suspected pulmonary malignancy is a simple, safe and practicalmethod, so should be used earlier and moe frequently to shorten the diagnostic interval. In Korea Cancer CenterHospital, 64 patients underwent PNAB with a diagnotic yield of 87.5%. 7 patients and a pneumothorax and in 3patients developed transient hemoptysis. Of 58 malignant of no -malignant cell on PNAB reveal benign lesion of 4cases, malignancy of 2 cases and loss to follow-up of 2 cases. Most of the pulmonary masses were measured 2-4cm(24 cases) or 4-6cm(19 cases) in size, and distibuted in upper lobes (36 cases) and peripheral area(45 cases),topographically.
