Abstract
- The medical terminology we have used so far in our country has its origin in the terminology originally developed by Japanese scholors based on Chinese characters. Review has been done, focusing on anatomical terms, about the drawbacks of theterminology in educational aspect. We discussed the justification of changing the Japanese-Chinese terms in relation to the educational effects, the national identity and the role of physicians in a society. Also we discussed on how the direction of our future medical terminology should be changed and modified. New terms proposed in the Korean Association of Anatomists were classified in various points of view and some part of those discussions were presented in this paper.
