A Case of Jellyfish Dermatitis with Atypical Clinical Manifestations

Abstract
- A 41-year-old woman presented with a 1-month history of erythematous papules, patches and ulcers on her right arm after immediate reaction of jellyfish stings. Histopathological findings showed focal spongiosis, exocytosis and microabscess in the epidermis, and perivascular infiltration of neutrophils, lymphocytes and eosinophils in the dermis and subcutis. The lesions were waxy and wanning, as the manifestation extended to non-contact areas. After 12 months, the lesions were healed leaving a brown-pigmented scar by systemic and local treatment. We report a case of jellyfish dermatitis which persistently manifested as eczematoid dermatitis, including to non-contact areas.
