Abstract

We analyzed clinically in 96 patients with pulmonary metastasis of gestational trophoblastic tumors who were admitted to the Chonnam University Hospital from January, 1982 to June, 1995. The result were as follows; 1. The proportion of lung metastasis was 95.1% of all metastasis patients in gestational trophoblastic tumor. 2. The largest portion (37.5%) were between 20 and 29. 3. In many patients (93.7%) the pulmonary lesion was asymptomatic. 4. The overall survival rate was 92.7%. In all death cases, death was induced by brain metastasis. 5. Whilst chemotherapy was the treatment of choice, selective thoracotomy or irradiation in cases with solitary lung lesion which were resistant against chemotherapy was needed for complete treatment.
