Abstract
-
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the functional and cosmetic results of epiblepharon between the surgical procedures, resection of skin and orbicularis oculi muscle[group A] and additional tarsal plate fixation[group B]. The 105 patients with epiblepharon, whose postoperative follow up periods were longer than 3 months, were reviewed retrospectively. Functionally, 52 of 58 patients[89.7%] in group A were satisfied whereas 41 of 47 patients[85.4%] were in group B. And cosmetically, 37 of 58 patients[63.8%] in group A were satisfied whereas 37 of 47 patients[78.7%] were in group B. In conclusion, the functional results were similar between both groups[P>0.05], but the cosmetic results were better in group B than in group A[P<0.05].
