Abstract

Hearing loss is an uncommon complication following spinal anesthesia. Although the etiology is un-clear, it is believed to result from decreased cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) pressure, as the CSF leaks due to the dural defect. The decreased CSF pressure may be transmitted to the inner ear, leading to vestibulo-cochlear dysfunction. Here, the case of a patient, who had transient hearing loss following total spinal anesthesia, due to repeated dural punctures, is reported.
