MALIGNANT FIBROUS HISTIOCYTOMA OF THE MAXILLA : REPORT OF TWO CASES
Abstract
- Malignant fibrous histiocytoma is a connective tissue tumor containing fibroblast-like cells and histiocytic cells, occurring most often of all soft, tissue sarcoma in adults. In osseous lesion, it occurs most often in long bones of extremities but rare in the head and neck region including the maxilla. Though cases of the head and neck region because of its highly malignant property and, as in cases of other regions of the body, devastating result would occur, aggressive treatment is required. Now, two cases showing good clinical result to the present, after wide surgical resection and postoperative radiotherapy in the malignant fibrous histiocytoma in our department, are reported here with review of literatures.
