Clinical Studies of 69 Cases of Amebic Dysentery in Children

Abstract

A clinical investigation was carried out on the 69 patients of the amebic dysentery who were checked in the Ewha Womans University Hospital during 7 years from 1970 to 1977. The statistical result showed the tendency that the amebie dysentery otreaks depending in the years, seasons, age and sex;with maximum frequency at 1969~1970, sumerearly autumn, less then 1 year old and boys. The symptoms in the order of frequency, were diarrhea, pyrexia, dehydration, vomiting and abdominal pain and then especially diarrhea occured on the whole patiemts and pyrexia on the tow thirds of the total patients. The result of medical theray explained that metronidazole was most effective to the amebic dysentery.
