Abstract

Pregnancy is accompanied by a multitude of immunological and physiological changes, rendering pregnant women more susceptible to various infections. Notably, respiratory and urinary tract infec tions are common, but the emergence of novel pathogens in recent years has led to the development of new infectious diseases. Consequently, obstetricians must maintain a heightened awareness of pathogens that have the potential to affect the fetus. In this review, we aim to provide an overview of well-established perinatal infections that can significantly impact fetal health, emphasizing the importance of early recognition and management to mitigate adverse outcomes.
