Abstract

Objectives
This study aimed to determine how a shared leadership education program affects col-lege students’ leadership competency and social coexistence index.
Methods
The study subjects were 82 students enrolled at University W located in J-do. Experi- mental treatment was performed once a week for 15 weeks and a total of 15 times. The collected data were analyzed by t-test using the SPSS statistical program.
Results
This study derived the following results. First, as a result of implementing the shared lead-ership education program, male students displayed improvement in leadership, creative problemsolving ability, and caring thinking, which are sub-areas of leadership competency, and female stu-dents exhibited improvement in all sub-areas. Second, both men and women displayed significantly higher in network consideration, maintenance, and expansion among the sub-areas of the social coexistence index.
Conclusions
The results suggest that one’s own leadership competency and social coexistence in-dex can be improved through experience in shared leadership education programs.
