Abstract

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic inflammatory disease and mainly affects the joints. The characteristic intra-articular manifestations of RA are joint effusion, synovial hypertrophy, synovitis and bone erosion. Musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSUS) is one of the useful imaging equipment for evaluating joints and has the advantage of being relatively easy to perform in the outpatient clinic. In addition, Power Doppler signals can be used to assess the local inflammatory response, which can be used to evaluate the response of treatment. Therefore, in this paper, we describe the application of MSUS to the characteristic findings associated with RA.
