Indocyanine Green-Guided Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery for Resection of an Ectopic Mediastinal Parathyroid Adenoma

Abstract
- Over the years, the applications of indocyanine green (ICG) fluorescence have increased exponentially. Recently, it was introduced in parathyroid surgery. We describe a case in which a parathyroid adenoma in the upper posterior mediastinum was resected by means of ICG-guided video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery. ICG helped in intra-operative localization and demarcation of the adenoma facilitating in toto resection, thereby successfully treating primary hyperparathyroidism.
