A Case of 31-Year-Old Female With Recurrent Tonsillitis due to Poor Differentiation of Naïve T Cells to Memory T Cells

Abstract
- We report a case of a 31-year-old female presented with recurrent sore throat and dyspnea even after tonsillectomy and repeated adenoidectomy. Hypertrophic lingual tonsil was removed via transoral robotic surgery and was confirmed as lymphoid follicular hyperplasia by pathological examination. The analysis of the distribution and the mean fluorescence intensity of T cells after stimulation with relevant cytokines showed impaired differentiation of naïve T cells into memory T cells. As such, defective T cell immunity had made the patient susceptible to repetitive upper respiratory infection.
