A Case of Intraocular Pressure Rise with Iridocyclitis after Photorefractive Keratectomy

Abstract
- Purpose
To report a case of intraocular pressure (IOP) rise with iridocyclitis after photorefractive keratectomy (PRK).
Case summary
A 29-year-old woman who had bilateral PRK to correct high myopia developed a glaucoma with iridocyclitis on 99th day after operation. After treatment of oral steroid and steroid eyedrops and anti-glaucoma eyedrops for 13 months, IOP was controlled within normal limit but peripheral anterior synechia and dyscoria was developed and remained. We have been observing the iridocyclitis that relapses intermittently with use of steroid eyedrops and checking the IOP regularly.
Conclusions
The case reported iridocyclitis after PRK without any medical or ophthalmic history. This seems to be multifactorial including inflammatory response induced by PRK or alterations in blood-aqueous humor barrier, which remains obscure. Close follow up for IOP and iridocyclitis is recommended after PRK.
