Abstract
- Primary esophageal motility disorders can be present with various symptoms like dysphagia, chest pain, regurgitation, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, or weight loss. And they show various abnormal manometry findings. Recent development in the diagnostic techniques (e.g. high-resolution esophageal manometry) provide better understanding of esophageal movement and a new classification of esophageal motility disorders. This paper is aimed to review the primary esophageal motility disorders and provide its assessment and management strategy to the physicians who encounter these disorders.
