Pathophysiology and Diagnosis of Sleep Apnea

Abstract
- Snoring and sleep apnea has become frequent disease in recent years. Obesity and long life span contribute prevalence of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome. Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome may aggravate hypertension, diabetes, and cerebrovascular disease. It could also induce daytime sleepiness, fatigue, depressed mood, and decreased cognitive function. It may related with increased car accident,decreased working performance, and increased error. In this article, pathophysiology and diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome will be discussed.
