Abstract

Authors introduced the experiences of using the shoe modification in patients with an abnormal gait following arthrodesis and/or partial ankylosis of the ankle in equinus or calcaneus. Much more benefit is gained by replacing the solid-heel with cushion one in the equinus foot and the solid-metatarsal-rocker with cushion one in calcaneus foot. In calcaneus foot, the solid-metatarsal-rocker could fulfil the function of toe-break of the prosthesis and improve the gait pattern also in the patient with stift metatarso-phalangeal joints of the toes.
