Abstract

The rupure of tendocalcaneus may result from various types of trauma, especially in middle aged man. At first, it was described by Patre (1575) and thereafter the causes, diagnostic and therapeutic methods of the ruptured tendon have been described by many workers. The eight patients (5 males and 3 females) of freshly ruptured tendocalcaneus have been treated surgically by Lindholm method and a follow-study has been made during 16 months from May. 1972. to August, 1973. The results were summarized as follows: 1) The rupture of tendocalcaneus was more common in man of the 4th decade. 2) The rupture by indirect injury was 3 times more common than by direct injury. 3) The most frequent sites of rupture were at the museulotendinous junction. 4) All the cases was repaired by Lindholm method and the results were good. 5) The normal function of tendocalcaneus can be regained about 6 months after operation.
