Abstract

A 33 year old man 8 months previously fell on his left elbow from a height and sustained a fracture of the proximal left ulna including the olecranon and the left radial head. At the time of the accident open reduction of the proximal ulna and olecranon, with intramedullary Steinmann pin fixation and radial head excision, was performed at a private clinic. This patient was admitted on March, 1974 with a stiff elbow joint (AGF 40°, AGE 20°) due to the previous trauma, Since admission the ankylosed elbow was replaced with a total hinge prosthesis of the Coonrad type. The initial results have been gratefying. This case is presented along with a brief review of literature.
