Tibiofibular Cross-Peg Grafting for Infected Ununited Fracture of Tibia

Abstract

Auther reported here two cases of united fracture of tibia complicated by infection, marked bony defect and overlying scarring, which were treated by tibiofibular autogenous cross-peg grafting at Seoul National University Hospital on Sept. and Oct. 1967. Both cases had two operations in fail, leaving shortening of affected leg, pseudoarthrosis and painful limping. Peg grafts were got from fibula of healthy leg, and reinforcing graft for affeeted fibula from ilium. Though both patients are still under the post-operative care, it was impressed that some definite benefit may be given for them in the control of infection, psychic help, and rationale of treatment.
