Findings of computed tomography in intracranial tuberculosis

Abstract

In intracranial tuberculosis, the CT is a new rdiological technique which is helpful in diagnosis anddeterming the location, extents of the lesion. It can also make it possible to assecess the presence and degree ofthe complications and to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment. 25 cases of clinically proven intracranialtuberculosis were studied by CT, in Soonchunhyang hospital from Jun. 1980 to Jun. 1983. The result were asfollows; 1. 4 cases were normal in CT finding, despite of the clinically proven tuberculous meningitis. 2. Totalor partial obliteration of cisterns were observed in 13 cases. 3. Intense abnormal contrast enhancement of thecisterns were observed in 8 cases. 4. 19 cases show moderate to marked ventricular dilatation. 5. 2 cases ofcerebral infarction were observed. 6. One case of tuberculoma was observed.
