Evaluation of liver scanning image in various hepatic disease

Abstract

In spite of a few limitation of scintillation scanning such as lack of specificity, low information content, poor resolution, and practical cosideration, and recent development of numerous other diagnostic tools and machines, the hepatic scintiscan has been still used as the only simple technique in the evaluation of functional status of hepatic parenchymal disease. On the analysis of hepatic scintigram of 148 proven various hepatic disease, the authors have achieved the following results. 1. The diagnosis was made adequately in hepatitis 91%, cirrhosis 97%, hepatoma 95%, metastatic tumor 71% and biliary obstruction 33%. 2. There is a certain possibility to make the differential diagnosis between acute and chronic hepatitis, and to determine any progression to chronicity or cirrhotic change. 3. Liver scan is also helpful in the diagnosis of hepatoma and metastatic tumor. 4. Moreover, being observed more intensively the pathologic findings around the porta hepatis, the diagnostic accuracy of obstructive jaundice would be enhanced only by the morphologic scan.
