Abstract

Pedunculated melanoma is an unusual variant of nodular melanoma and confined to a nodule connected to the underlying skin by a stalk. A 52-year-old woman was presented with a rapidly growing, pedunculated mass on her left lower leg. Histopathologically, the mass consisted of many nests of atypical epitheloid cells containing large, hyperchromatic nuclei with frequent mitoses. In immunohistochemical stain, the tumor cells were positive with S-100 protein and HMB45. The patient had no evidence of metastasis and was treated with wide excision and skin grafts.
