Lichen Sclerosus et Atrophicus of the neck

Abstract
- Lichen sclerosus et artrophicus is a benign, chronic atrophic dermatosis that occurs most often on the vulvar area. It may also involve any other areas such as the face, oral mucosa, neck, palm or sole. Lichen sclerosus et artrophicus of the face and neck is confused with morphea, discoid lupus erythematosus, and atrophic scars. We encountered a 45-year-old female with a hypopigmented firm plaque on the left neck. Histologic examination revealed compact orthokeratosis, follicular plugging, atrophy of the stratum malpighii with vacuolar alteration of the basal layer, and homogenization of the collagen in the upper dermis. In addition, it showed increased thick collagen bundles in the lower dermis.
