Abstract

During the past two years, 132 patients(137 cases) underwent ureteroscopic removal of ureteral stones(URS). Complications occurred in 25 cases(18%), and there were 29 cases(21%) of failure due to the upward migration of stones in 9 cases, unsuccessful dilation of ureter in 7 cases, failure of the ureteroscope to approach the stones in 12 cases and lack of ultrasonic disintegration in 1 case. Among the 29 cases, 16 involved upper ureter stones. Complications included residual stones, ureteral injury, renal injury bladder injury, hematuria and paralytic ileus. Ureteroscopic removal of mid and lower ureteral stones is the procedure of choice.
