Abstract

Liposarcoma is the malignant tumor that can be originated from any adipose tissue. Retropetritoneal liposarcoma is reported to comprise about 23% of all lipoasrcomas that account for 14% of all the soft tissue sarcoma. The prognosis of liposarcomas in the retroperitoneum is generally poor due to lack of early symptoms resulting in late diagnosis, and high frequency of local recurrences after primary resection. We reported a case of liposarcoma of the retroperitoneum in 64 year old woman, treated with extended complete excision of tumor including the kidney and the adjoining retroperitoneal fat tissue.
