A Case of Adenoid Basal Carcinoma of Uterine Cervix
Abstract
-
Adenoid basal carcinoma (ABC) of uterine cervix was first described as an entity distinct from adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) in 1966. ABC is composed of small, round to oval nests of cells resembling those of basal cell carcinoma of skin, with palisading of the cells at the periphery of the nests. Frequent association with premalignant or early malignant squamous epithelial lesions in the overlying mucosa with ABC has been reported. We experienced a case of ABC in a 72-year-old female. The pathological diagnosis of the cervical lesion was adenoid basal carcinoma and so we report firstly in Korea with brief review of literature.
