Abstract
- Atrophoderma of Pasini-Pierini and morphea are regarded as distinct clinical entities, but some authors insist close relationship between them. A 33-year-old Korean woman complained solitary atrophic lesion on lateral wrist. It was whitish, nonindurated, and slightly depressed lesion with smooth surface, and she denied prior history of any trauma or injection. Histological examination showed epidermal atrophy, basal hypopigmentation, and moderate dermal fibrosis without specific change of subcutaneous fat tissue. Fontna-Masson stain showed decreased melanocyte in basal layer. The lesion disappeared spontaneously within a year. We suggest her skin lesion seems to be a variant of self-involuting atrophoderma of the lateral upper arm reported previously.
