Iliac Vein Stenosis Treated with Use of an Expandable Metallic Stent: A Case Report
Abstract
- Intravascular stents have been developed as an adjunct to balloon angioplasty to scaffold the inner vessel
surface to improve patency of stenoses and occlusions of arteries and veins. Several types of stents have been
described in the literature and have been used in animal experiments as well as in clinical studies, but the
clinical application of venous stents is still rather limited and mostly restricted to arteries.
We experienced one case of successful palliative treatment in a extrinsically compressed lilac vein by
metastatic lymph node using a expandable metallic stent.
