Abstract

Anisakiasis is a parasitic disease following ingesting raw fish infected with Anisakis larvae. The clinical symptoms are severe cramping abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting and epigastric fullness. The endoscopic features of the gastric mucosa adjacent to the worms are edema, erosion, ulceration and hemorrhage. Gastric anisakiasis forming submucosal tumor is rare. We experienced a case of gastric anisakiasis initially diagnosed as submucosal tumor and treated with laparoscopic wedge resection and confirmed by biopsy. We report this case with a brief review of literatures.
