Patient with complete urethral stricture is often unable to generate a bladder contraction and void into the proximal urethral stump during voiding cystourethrography. VCUG were performed in 27 patients with complete urethral strictures who were managed at National Medical Center. The urethra proximal to complete obstruction were visualized in 8 of 27(29.6%) patients by VCUG. Visualization was extremely difficult in the patients with bulbous urethral stricture where only 2 of 18 patients (11%) were visualized. The length of complete urethral stricture secondary to the pubic bone fracture in children was longer than that of adults. Voiding cystourethrography was insufficient for the evaluation of complete urethral stricture. An observation of proximal urethra by flexible endoscope with or without antegrade urethrography through it is ideal and necessary.
