Abstract

The demand for vasovasostomy to reverse vasectomy is increasing. The development of two techniques (one or two layer) performed with magnification has increased the success rate, as judged by anastomosis and pregnancy rates, We reviewed our experience with the open-loop submucosal vasovasostomy in the 50 evaluable patients among the 65 treated during the past 3 years since we introduced this operative method. The overall anatomic and pregnancy success rates were 92% and 50% respectively. Microscopic open-loop one-layer submucosal vasovasostomy has a success rate similar to that of the conventional one- or -two-layer procedures, but ir is better in that the operating time is shorter, the granuloma incidence is low, and the mucosal anastomosis is exact.
