A Case of Transient Acantholytic Dermatosis
Abstract
- Transient acantholytic dermatosis is characterized by the transient appearance of pruritic, scattered, and histologic finding of focal acantholytic changes, which is described as five patterns including Darier-White type, pemphigus vulgaris type, pemphigus foliaceus type, Hailey-Hailey type, and spongiotic form with acantholysis. We present a case of transient acantholytic dermatosis which occurred in a 50-year-old man with preexisting cavitary pulmonary tuberculosis and drug-induced acute renal failure. The patient showed numerous skin-colored or erythematous papules on the chest and upper extremities and histologic findings were consistent with transient acanthoytic dermatosis, Hailey-Hailey type. He was treated with antihistamine only, and the skin lesions showed a complete resolution after a month.
