Abstract
- In this report, normal skull x-ray films (1176 cases) are investigated for pineal body calcification in Korea University College of Medicine, Woo Sok Hospital, from Jan. 1968 to Dec. 1970. The results are as follows: 1. Twenty one % of them shows pineal body calcification. 2. The sex and age distribution of pineal body calcification are 163 males (21.3%) and 84 females (20.5%) with ratio of 1:1 and predominant in late decades. 3. The form of pineal body calcification is divided in 7 types. Sand like type is predominant among them. 4. In the lateral view of the skull x-ray film, pineal body calcification is determined by the distances between the calcification and the center of seller turcica, external acoustic meatus, internal occipital protuberance, lambda, and bregma. Normal limits of the distances, which mentioned as above are 4.5-5.5cm, 4.5-6.0cm, 6.5-8.0cm, 7.0-8.5cm, and 8.0-9.5cm.
